2016 Humboldt St Football team is looking to continue to be a dominating force in the GNAC and make a 2nd straight appearance to the D2 playoffs. A big part of the HSU making this run will be the Wide Receiver tandem of Sage Burmeister – (JR – La Jolla Country Day/Idaho St) and John Todd II – (RS-Soph – Valhalla HS) aka Tango & Cash.
If you ever seen the old school action movie you would know the characters of Tango & Cash. Tango (Played by Kurt Russell) is a cop that is quick to react to things going around him, especially in situations of conflict or combat. That perfectly describes Sage “Tango” Burmeister. Sage is an open field nightmare for opposing defenses. Sage ever since high school aggressively attacks defenses with his allusive moves and quick burst. Sage in 2015 had 25 receptions for 221 yards and 3Touchdowns. He has was a fixture in the kick return leading Humboldt with 363 yards averaging 19.1 per return.
The character Cash was very calculated. Cash was the cop that always made the big bust or solved the big case. That is John “Cash” Todd II. Todd is Humboldt St most fierce wide receiver due to his deep threat capability and uncanny will to make the “Big Play”. In only 8 games Todd II amassed 10 Receptions for 275 yards and 3 touchdowns. John average 27.5 yards per catch, before suffering an injury that sidelined him for the playoffs.
2016 both players are expected to have a huge impact on this season. Humboldt State was one of the top offensive in the nation in 2015. Humboldt State opens the season vs Carson-Newman on 9/1/2016 on ESPN 3. Let us support not only Todd II and Burmeister but also the rest of the Lumberjacks from San Diego:
